Privacy policy

This website is operated by Mohammed Refat ("I", "me"). It is a personal site, not a product that profiles you. The short version: I collect what you choose to send me, and very little else.

What I collect

• Contact form: your name, email address, the topic you select and your message. Used only to reply to you.
• Newsletter: your email address, if you choose to subscribe. Used only to send the newsletter.
• Chat widget: the questions you type. If the optional external AI provider is enabled, those questions are sent to that provider to generate an answer. If it is not enabled, everything stays in your browser.
• Local preferences: your light/dark theme choice is stored in your browser's localStorage. It never leaves your device.

What I do not collect

This site does not set advertising cookies, does not run third-party analytics or tracking pixels, and does not sell or rent your information. There are no accounts and no passwords.

Service providers

Depending on the forms you use, limited data may pass through:

• Form handling (for example Formspree), to deliver contact messages.
• Email newsletter platform (for example Buttondown or Beehiiv), to store subscribers and send emails.
• Hosting and CDN provider, which processes standard technical request data such as IP address and user agent to serve the site.
• Fonts are loaded from Google Fonts, which receives your IP address when fonts are requested.

How long I keep it

Contact messages are kept for as long as needed to handle the conversation and any follow-up, then deleted when no longer useful. Newsletter addresses are kept until you unsubscribe. Chat messages are kept only in your browser session unless an external AI provider is enabled, in which case that provider's retention policy applies.

Your choices

• Ask for a copy of what I hold about you.
• Ask me to correct or delete it.
• Unsubscribe from the newsletter using the link in any email.
• Clear the theme preference by clearing your browser storage.

Security

Data is transmitted over HTTPS and access is limited to me and the providers listed above. No system is perfectly secure, so please don't send sensitive information such as card numbers, passwords or identity documents through the contact form.

Children

This site is intended for a professional audience and is not directed at children under 16. I do not knowingly collect their data.

International transfers

Some providers may store data outside Egypt. Where that happens, their standard contractual safeguards apply.

Changes

If this policy changes, the updated date at the top of the page will change with it. Material changes will be noted on this page.
